Do you work with businesses in Belgium?
Yes. Flip Retail is based in Jaipur, India, and works with Belgium businesses remotely. We have no office in Belgium; discovery happens on video calls, you get working software every two weeks, and the engineers who write the code are on the calls.
Can a custom ERP handle VAT and e-invoicing in Belgium?
Yes. Invoicing is built for Belgium's VAT (standard rate 21%). Since 1 Jan 2026 structured e-invoices (Peppol BIS 3.0 by default, other EN 16931 formats by agreement) are mandatory for domestic B2B transactions between Belgian VAT-registered businesses, with a tolerance period in Q1 2026; PDF and paper no longer qualify and B2C is out of scope. Near-real-time e-reporting on a 5-corner Peppol model is planned from 1 Jan 2028. A custom ERP connects to Peppol through its official API or an accredited provider, and we confirm the current requirements in discovery.
How do you handle GDPR?
GDPR applies directly, supplemented by the Law of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and supervised by the Data Protection Authority (APD/GBA); B2B buyers expect an Art. 28 data processing agreement, a sub-processor list and, in practice, EU/EEA hosting or SCC-covered transfers. You choose where the system is hosted, access is role-based, and we work on test or masked data during development wherever possible.
Can you migrate us from Exact Online, Octopus or Yuki?
Yes. Masters, ledgers, stock items and opening balances move across and are reconciled with your accountant before cutover, ideally at a year-end or quarter-end.
Are there AI rules we need to follow in Belgium?
The EU AI Act applies directly: prohibited AI practices have been banned since 2 Feb 2025, general-purpose AI model rules apply since 2 Aug 2025 and transparency duties (e.g. chatbot disclosure, AI-content labelling) since 2 Aug 2026, while the Digital Omnibus on AI (in force 27 Jul 2026) moved stand-alone high-risk (Annex III) obligations to 2 Dec 2027 and product-embedded high-risk (Annex I) obligations to 2 Aug 2028; Belgium's national AI supervisory authority designation was still being finalised in 2026. We design AI agents with logging, human oversight and clear disclosure from the start, which covers most current requirements.
