Hybrid seed companies, led by Mahyco, gave Jalna its reputation as a seed-production centre, with cotton, vegetable and grain seed processed and packed here for farmers nationwide. The town is also a large cluster of induction-furnace and rolling mills making TMT bars and billets, and its markets trade sweet lime (mosambi), cotton and pulses from Marathwada.
