Business in Calgary
Head offices of Canada's largest oil and pipeline companies, including Suncor, Cenovus, Imperial and TC Energy, fill downtown towers, supported by engineering, geoscience and oilfield-service firms. CPKC railway and WestJet are also based here, rail-served distribution centres supply western Canada, and ranching and meat processing across southern Alberta tie the city to agriculture.
Where software helps: Calgary's oilfield-service and equipment-rental firms bill operators by day rate, field ticket and AFE code, and must reconcile crew time, mileage and parts across remote sites before invoices are approved.
