Business in Cork
Ringaskiddy and Little Island, on Cork Harbour, hold a heavy concentration of pharmaceutical plants, with Pfizer, Janssen, Novartis and GSK among the manufacturers. Apple has run its European headquarters at Hollyhill since 1980, and the Port of Cork, Ireland's only oil refinery at Whitegate and dairy co-operatives across the county add shipping, energy and food processing.
Also known as Corcaigh.
Where software helps: Cork's pharma suppliers, contract engineers and food processors work under GMP and HACCP regimes, needing batch records, calibration logs and supplier traceability linked to purchasing and invoicing rather than spreadsheets.
