Business in Rotterdam
Europe's largest port stretches some 40 km from the city to the Maasvlakte, handling containers, crude oil and agricultural bulk. Refineries and chemical plants run by Shell, ExxonMobil and BP crowd the Botlek and Europoort areas, and shipping agents, forwarders, commodity traders and maritime insurers fill offices along the Maas, alongside offshore-energy and food-processing companies.
Where software helps: Forwarders, traders and chemical distributors in Rotterdam juggle customs declarations, bonded-warehouse stock, demurrage and EU ICS2 and CBAM reporting, often re-keying the same container data into several systems.
