Business in Gandhidham
Deendayal Port at Kandla, a few kilometres away, shapes most of Gandhidham's economy: shipping agents, customs brokers, freight forwarders, warehouses and tank farms crowd the town. Imports of edible oil, timber and fertiliser feed refineries, sawmills and plywood units nearby, the Kandla SEZ hosts export manufacturers, and salt works along the Kutch coast add another trade.
Where software helps: Bulk-cargo handlers, tank-farm operators and customs brokers here bill by tonne, kilolitre and day of storage, so they need cargo-wise stock in tanks and yards, demurrage tracking and recovery of port charges paid for clients.
