Business in Kota
Entrance-exam coaching for engineering and medical colleges brings students from across India to Kota, supporting hostels, PG rooms, mess kitchens, stationery and transport businesses. The city also lends its name to Kota stone, a limestone used for flooring, and has fertiliser and chemical plants, thermal and nuclear power stations in the region, and a large grain mandi trading soybean, coriander and wheat.
Where software helps: Coaching institutes and the hostels around them handle fee instalments, batch changes, attendance and test results, plus room allocation and mess billing, usually through a patchwork of registers and separate apps.
