Business in Mangaluru
Cashew processing, fishing and the clay roof tiles that bear the city's name built Mangaluru's trade, and New Mangalore Port now handles crude oil, LPG, coal and containers. The MRPL refinery and petrochemical units sit on its northern side, several Indian banks were founded here, and private medical and engineering colleges draw students from across India and abroad.
Also known as Mangalore.
Where software helps: Cashew processors here import raw nuts and take each lot through roasting, shelling, peeling and grading into many kernel grades, so yield per lot, grade-wise stock and export paperwork decide margins.
