Business in Panaji
Goa's small capital on the Mandovi estuary runs on government, tourism and services: hotels, restaurants and offshore casinos moored in the river draw visitors, and the old Latin Quarter of Fontainhas adds heritage tourism. Within a short drive are the Corlim, Kundaim and Verna industrial estates with pharmaceutical, electrical and food plants, while iron-ore exports through Mormugao Port, fishing, and cashew and feni production complete the state economy.
Also known as Panjim.
Where software helps: Hotels, villas and tour operators earn most of their year between October and March, so channel-wise room inventory, seasonal rates, advance deposits and GST invoicing for foreign guests must be tightly managed.
