Carved sheesham furniture, screens, boxes and decor from Saharanpur's wood-carving workshops carry a GI tag and sell across India and abroad. Beyond woodcraft, the district's sugar mills and mango orchards feed agri-processing and trade, a large paper mill and a cigarette factory are among the bigger employers, and the city serves as a wholesale centre for the area where Uttar Pradesh meets Haryana and Uttarakhand.
