Pilgrimage around Har Ki Pauri, the Kumbh Mela and the annual Kanwar Yatra keeps dharamshalas, hotels and markets busy, while BHEL's heavy-electrical plant at Ranipur and the SIDCUL estate's two-wheeler, FMCG, pharmaceutical and Ayurvedic factories drive industry. Ayurvedic and herbal products are a particular speciality of local manufacturers.
