Business in Monterrey
Steel built the city's industrial base, and Ternium, DeAcero, Cemex, glassmaker Vitro, FEMSA, Alfa and Banorte still run their businesses from Monterrey and San Pedro Garza García. A few hours' drive from the Laredo border crossing, the metro has become a leading nearshoring destination: Kia assembles cars in Pesquería, and auto-parts, appliance and electrical-equipment suppliers from Asia, the US and Europe fill new industrial parks in Apodaca, Escobedo, Santa Catarina and Salinas Victoria.
Also known as MTY.
Where software helps: Nearshoring suppliers shipping to US plants run IMMEX temporary-import controls and Annex 24 inventory, issue USMCA certificates of origin and add the foreign-trade complement to every export CFDI.
