Business in Mandi Gobindgarh
Steel is almost the entire economy of this town on the Grand Trunk Road between Khanna and Sirhind. Hundreds of rolling mills and induction furnaces melt scrap into ingots and billets and roll them into bars, angles, channels and other sections, supported by scrap-cutting yards, forging units, foundries and a large community of steel traders who sell across northern India.
Also known as Gobindgarh.
Where software helps: Re-rolling mills and furnace units buy scrap and billets at daily-changing prices, track heat-wise yield and burning loss, and bill finished sections by weight, so margins depend on accurate same-day costing.
