Business in Hisar
Stainless-steel strip, galvanised iron and coin blanks earned Hisar the name City of Steel, with the Jindal Stainless works anchoring a cluster of smaller cold-rolling and pipe units. The surrounding district grows cotton, wheat and mustard, supporting ginning, spinning and grain trade, and the city is a centre of farm and veterinary research, with CCS Haryana Agricultural University and a long-established government livestock farm.
Also known as Hissar.
