Business in Jamshedpur
Planned by Jamsetji Tata and founded in 1907, the steelworks here turned the village of Sakchi into Jamshedpur. The city also has a large truck plant, while hundreds of small and medium units in Adityapur and Gamharia make forgings, castings, machined parts and fabrications for vehicle, steel and engineering customers. Tinplate, cables, and copper and uranium mining in the surrounding district add to the industrial base.
Also known as Tatanagar.
Where software helps: Forging, casting and machining units supplying truck and steel-plant customers need heat-number traceability from raw material to dispatch, plus rejection and rework records that customers can audit.
