Business in Bokaro
Everything in this planned township traces back to the Bokaro Steel Plant, built with Soviet assistance from the late 1960s. Ancillary units in the Balidih industrial area make spares and fabrications for it, slag from the plant feeds cement production, coal-bed methane is extracted nearby, and neighbouring Chas handles much of the area's retail and wholesale trade, while schools and coaching centres serve students from across Jharkhand.
Also known as Bokaro Steel City.
Where software helps: Engineering ancillaries making spares and doing repairs for the steel plant work on rate contracts and repair orders, needing machine-hour costing, job cards and rejection tracking to stay profitable.
