Business in Jakarta
Tanjung Priok, Indonesia's busiest container port, handles much of the trade of Java's industrial heartland, including the car and motorcycle plants of Toyota, Astra and Honda in Sunter and in the Bekasi and Karawang estates east of the city. Head offices of state banks, Bank Central Asia and the big distribution groups cluster along Sudirman and Kuningan, and the city is the base of GoTo and most of Indonesia's venture-funded e-commerce and fintech companies.
Also known as Jabodetabek and DKI Jakarta.
Where software helps: Distributors supplying thousands of outlets across Java and the outer islands need route-based sales, stock in multiple depots and VAT e-Faktur issued through the tax office's new Coretax system.
