Business in Bogotá
Cut flowers grown in greenhouses on the Sabana de Bogotá, in towns such as Madrid, Funza and Facatativá, are flown out of El Dorado airport to US buyers in large volumes ahead of Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. The capital also holds the head offices of Grupo Aval, Davivienda and most national ministries and regulators, a large outsourcing and shared-services workforce, and startups such as Rappi.
Also known as Bogota and Santa Fe de Bogotá.
Where software helps: Firms here must issue DIAN-validated electronic invoices and electronic payroll, while flower exporters plan cold-chain air cargo and staffing around the Valentine's Day and Mother's Day order peaks.
