Business in Medellín
Garment and textile makers, many supplying lingerie, swimwear and jeans to export buyers, have long defined the Aburrá Valley, and the annual Colombiamoda fair is held here. The Antioquian business groups behind Bancolombia, Grupo Sura, Grupo Argos and Grupo Nutresa are headquartered in the city, the public utility EPM runs power and water services, and the Ruta N innovation district hosts software firms.
Also known as Medellin.
Where software helps: Clothing makers send cutting and sewing to satellite workshops, track every style by size and colour, and must issue DIAN electronic invoices for both domestic and export sales.
